18 Minutes
18 Minutes By Peter Bregman, chief executive officer of the global management consulting firm Bregman Partners allows us to navigate through bundles of emails, phone calls, text messages, and endless meetings that prevent us from focusing our time on things that are important.
We can manage our 8-hour workday in less than 18 minutes with these three steps:
STEP 1: Set A Plan For A Day (5 minutes)
Sit down and think about what you need to do today to make it successful. Then take those things off your to-do list and schedule them into your calendar.
STEP 2: Refocus (1 minute every hour)
Set an alarm every hour and when it beeps, "take a deep breath and ask yourself if you spend the last hour productively." Manage your day hour by hour, don't let the hour manage you.
STEP 3: Review (5 minutes)
Review your day: How the day went? What worked? Where did you focus? Where did you distract? What do you learn that will help you be more productive tomorrow?
The 18-minute approach gives an easy insight to manage the day.
